Who we are

Seed-to-table Produce

Blue Ribbon Gardens began back in 2019 as a Hobby Farm growing garlic. Our boys were all grown and since we have 3 acres, we decided to do something with the ground. We grew approximately 4,000 bulbs to sell to restaurants. Then COVID hit and it was suggested that we open a fresh produce stand since the downtown farmer's market was not open. Our gardens only grow produce without any chemicals or pesticides. We are now in our 5th year at the Red Chicken Coop.

All the vegetables sold at Blue Ribbon Gardens are harvested from chemical-free gardens located within an hour of Des Moines. Essentially, our produce is seed-to-table, featuring heirloom varieties grown and hand-cultivated for flavor rather than shelf life and shipability, unlike most produce found in grocery stores.

Our produce is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, ensuring you get the purest and healthiest food.

Our fruits and vegetables are brought straight from our fields to your table, ensuring peak freshness and flavor.

You'll find us at the corner of S 50th St and Grand Ave in West Des Moines, Iowa. We're open from June through September, with hours on Fridays from 3pm to 7pm and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Our hours are subject to change depending on weather so please check our facebook page for updates!
